Our graduate program includes excellent M.Sc. and Ph.D. students who are successful awardees in extremely competitive external scholarship awards such as NSERC, Vanier, OGS and the Governor Generals Award.

Internal departmental awards acknowledge their vast accomplishments ranging from impressive research productivity, publications in highly renowned journals, travel scholarships involving rewarding opportunities for research trips, and conference/poster presentations overseas and across Canada - as well as being on campus effectively mentoring undergraduate students with recognized teaching assistantship success!

McMaster University internal graduate scholarship success includes International Excellence Awards, The Richard Fuller Memorial and Ontario Graduate Fellowship and RA/TA Award for the Faculty of Science.

Keynote Speaker

Carole Yauk is a PhD graduate from the lab of Dr. Jim Quinn, where her doctoral work showed that elevated heritable mutations in herring gulls were associated with steel mills.

For her dissertation on this research Carole received the NSERC Silver Medal award.

Dr. Yauk now works at the Environmental Health Science and Research Bureau of Health Canada, where she works on toxigenomic analysis of environmental pollutants. Her seminar will explore her current research and the non-academic career path.
